Understanding Our Students: Welcoming Newcomers: Afghan Voices

CGEP@StanState hosts a 3-part event February 24, March 10 & March 17 3:30-5:00 pm

Session One: Featuring Scholar Jennifer Fluri, Professor of Geography, CU Boulder will introduce the experience, culture, & traditions students bring to your classroom and our community. Session Two: Meet, engage and learn from a panel of Afghan students, parents, and community members in facilitated small group discussions. Session Three: Optional for teachers seeking UEE credit. Teachers attending all 3 sessions will earn University Extended Credit (UEE) and their choice of the following and a digital subscription to Brown University’s “Choices in Education – The US in Afghanistan. K-3: Malala’s Magic Pencil; Nasreen’s Secret School (including Global Book Bag Lesson); Grades 6-8: I am Malala (young adult edition) or Refugee (Alan Gratz); High School: I am Malala (Yousafzai); West of Kabul, East of New York (Ansary).
