Global Books: Lit Log & Lists

Global Lit Log

For middle and high school teachers seeking globally themed books to add to their classroom libraries, recommend to young readers, and use for classroom instruction, check out the Global Lit Log, created by Global Teacher Fellow and Humanities Teacher Susan Taylor (Ripon Elementary). This collection of one-page summaries identifies global themes through UN Sustainable Development Goals as well as CGEP Global Competence Indicators. The companion to this Global Lit Log is Susan’s masterful podcast from Wonder World Book Cafe. Enjoy these titles, let us know what you think, and look for the second edition already in production!

Global Book Lists

Our Global Book Bags program invites K-6 teachers to identify children’s literature with global themes. We read, discuss, and brainstorm ways to use these stories in our classrooms to support global competence. In the process, we have compiled and organized recommended books into the lists below. These lists are updated every quarter as new treasures are published, discovered, and brought to our attention. If you have additions to any of these lists, please contact us to share your titles. Happy reading!
