Latino Leaders Speak: Stories that Matter
The Latino Leaders Network is dedicated to bringing leaders together to establish relationships, build unity, and share personal stories. This book, Latino Leaders Speak: Personal Stories of Struggle and Triumph, is a collection of 33 inspiring short stories shared by Latino leaders who have made and continue to make a difference in local, national, and global communities. These personal stories reflect resilience, compassion, courage, and the importance of education.
The California Global Education Project is honored to collaborate with the Latino Leaders Network to develop a curriculum guide that allows teachers to share these stories while inspiring all students to identify their own stories, recognize their unique gifts, and develop the powerful leader within. The guide includes learning activities that promote agency, civic engagement, and leadership by aligning global competencies with key messages from each featured leader.
This curriculum guide offers instructional plans for 16 stories provided below in text and audio format. Teachers participating in our workshops receive a copy of the book. Additional lessons and stories are forthcoming in 2024!
CGEP Director Barbara Vallejo Doten leads the development of this curriculum and professional learning program.
