Introducing the SDGs and Strategies for Inspiring Student Agency

This professional development session will empower elementary educators to integrate global perspectives into their teaching by introducing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in age-appropriate and engaging ways. Participants will explore practical strategies for fostering student agency—helping young learners recognize their ability to make a positive impact both locally and globally. Through hands-on activities, model lessons, and examples from real classrooms, teachers will discover how to connect the SDGs to existing curriculum, encourage critical thinking, and guide students toward meaningful action projects.

By the end of the session, participants will leave with

  • Ready-to-use resources

  • Cross-curricular ideas

  • Confidence to inspire globally minded problem-solvers in their classrooms
