Join other K-12 educators across Los Angeles County for this virtual professional development.
This professional learning opportunity focuses on the UN. Sustainable Development Goals #11 and 12, Sustainable Cities and Communities diving deeply into the choices we make around Responsible Production and Consumption while bringing together K-12 educators in LA County who want to further explore:
Increasing critical academic, geographic, economic and media literacies
Connections to local resources and individuals, including those who are creating different models for living and working consistent with evidence and values
Design thinking with an equity focus to understand and re-imagine sustainable and just solutions for the local/global community
Co-creating with their students a learning environment that promotes global competence and directly connects with the critical local/global issues they are most passionate about and how to individually and collectively design solutions that grow student agency
Developing a community of practice with other like-minded educators as a place to share ideas, concerns and solutions
Teachers and students co-create productive, respectful, and sustainable cultures/practices that begin in the classroom and extend into local and global communities. This program will support educators in creating classroom practices that emphasize student agency, promote asset-based instructional practices, and contribute to global sustainable development goals.
All sessions to convene virtually:
June 15-17, 1-4pm daily
With continuing monthly gatherings through the 2022-23 school year to connect and support teachers in community
2nd Wednesday of the month 4-5:15 (September - May)
Priority given to K-12 educators across Los Angeles County
$1,000 Stipend for active participation in:
All sessions (noted above),
Feedback/input around the program,
Activities assigned throughout the program, and
Sharing lessons/activities developed as a result of the program.
