Teaching for Sustainable Communities: Empowering Eco-Literate Global Citizens
June 6-9, 2022, November 5, 2022 and Student Showcase May 2023
Synchronous sessions are from 9am-12pm. Asynchronous work is from 1-3pm.
K-12 teachers are invited to apply for participation in the 2022-2023 Teaching for Sustainable Communities (TSC) program, which includes: statewide virtual launch, 4-day summer hybrid (Monday in-person and Tuesday-Thursday virtual/distanced institute (June 6-9), 1-day follow-up meeting (Nov. 5), and showcase of student learning (virtual or other options) in Spring of 2023. The program focuses on environmental justice, global competence, and student agency in alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goal #11 Sustainable Cities and Communities. Participating teachers will receive a $250 or substitute coverage stipend in addition to classroom resources. Units will be available through University of San Diego ($237 for 3 units). Application deadline is extended to May 10, 2021. Teachers will be notified by May 17, 2021. School pairs/teams are encouraged to apply.
